STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY

Need images for your book cover? Check out these stock photography sites:

Want something more unique? Here are a few things to try:

Wattpad

Though Wattpad is site for serialized fiction, there are tons of other creatives there including graphic artists, editors, and cover designers. Search for “graphics” and browse through the many sample books posted by designers. An account has to be created in order t to contact users via the site, but most of the designers have contact info listed on their profiles and are willing to work on other projects.

Deviant Art

We LOVE this site! So much talent from artists of varying backgrounds and media. They have an area of stock images that others can use as long as credit is sited. If you’d like something created just for you, it’s easy to reach out to the artists there.

Find a photographer

OK, so this might be a more expensive option, but if you have the budget, go for it! Even if you don’t, some photographers are willing to negotiate terms where you pay a small fee up front, and a larger one later if you sell a certain number of books.

Creative Market

This site is awesome! They everything from graphics, to fonts, to templates for websites and Instagram! This site is especially great if you’re building your “brand” and want to keep your site/media materials congruent.

BUILD YOUR COVER

PicMonkey

Another site we love! Whether you need tools to build or brand or a user-friendly image editor, this is the perfect site. Upload an image and add textures, overlays, fonts and borders. Premium users have a “touch up” option which lets you airbrush, add makeup, or even spray tan a photo! The best part is that they have quick and simple tutorials that teach you how to do everything.

Cover It! Designs

If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, working with Ari at Cover It! Designs is a great choice. Her covers are absolutely beautiful AND she doesn’t charge a million dollars! Both pre-made and custom covers start at just $79.99.

Fiverr.com

Another great option if DIY isn’t for you. Fiverr offers freelance services from various fields including music, business and graphic design. A search for “book cover design” returns a divers list of creators that can help you. Prices start as low as $5!
